Omnivision OV9715 Shipping to Multiple Tier-One Automotive Suppliers

PR Newswire: Omnivision announced that it begins mass production of its OV9715 CMOS image sensor for use in 360-degree view and other stand-alone or multi camera automotive vision systems. The 1MP OV9715 is a fully AEC-Q100 qualified sensor for advanced driver assistance systems. It is currently shipping to multiple tier-1 automotive suppliers.

The OV9715's can be used in multi-camera automotive vision systems that use extreme wide-angle (>160 degree) lenses where distortion correction and image stitching are required. The 1/4-inch sensor sensitivity is 3300 mV/lux-sec. The sensor delivers 720p video at 30fps and VGA video at 60fps.

While we are at Omnivision, as WSJ reports, an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 shook south of Taiwan early on Thursday, including Tainan Science Industrial Park-based TSMC fab working on the new 1.1um OmniBSI-2 pixel. TSMC said wafer production in Tainan has been disrupted.

Update: Electronics Weekly reports that TSMC lost 40K wafers in the quake.
